A Year to Be Grateful For

A Year to Be Grateful For

Denise Holland15 Dec 2025 - 10:45

Wishing our CFX Netball family a joyful Christmas

What a year it’s been — thank you for your continued support.

As this year draws to a close, I want to pause and say how grateful I am to our parents, players, coaches, umpires and management team. Your support, commitment and care are what make CFX Netball Club such a special community.

I had a feeling this year would be quite something, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. My book, PlayFreely® – The Spiritual Key to Athletic Excellence, was launched, and I couldn’t be prouder. If you haven’t already come across it, you can find it on Amazon here:

Many parents have asked whether it’s suitable for young people. The book is written for adults in all their roles, including parents, professionals and coaches, and is also appropriate for players aged 12+. I’d encourage you to read it first and make your own judgement. It also makes a thoughtful Christmas stocking filler for those curious about confidence, pressure and wellbeing in sport and life.

At its heart, the book is an honest account of my life, the lens through which I once saw the world, and the journey of waking up from unhelpful stories, beliefs and judgements. It explains how an understanding of the mind enables us to see beyond fear, frustration, and self-doubt and reconnect with clarity, possibility, peace, and joy.

This is what I want for all our members. These truths aren’t often taught in schools, at least not in this way. A way that helps young people see that they are already enough, already whole, with nothing missing except the thoughts that momentarily convince them otherwise.

I love watching young people reconnect with their inner spark, something that can’t be earned, taken away or lost. It’s their birthright, a creative power and inner strength that remains steady no matter what life or sport brings. That’s one of the reasons I’ve chosen to stay at the helm of CFX Netball Club, and as Head Coach, for a few more years yet.

I also continue to offer private one-to-one work with young people and adults who are interested in exploring this understanding more deeply. This work supports what I often describe as inspiring a generation of digital and creative genius, helping players develop clarity, resilience, and freedom of mind both on and off the court. If this feels like something your child or family might benefit from, you’re very welcome to reach out for a quiet conversation.

My inspiration is to share my years of coaching experience with enthusiastic people who will carry this club forward long after I retire. If that’s something you’d like to explore, please feel free to PM me, and we can arrange a time for a coffee and a chat.

As this wonderful year comes to a close, I’d like to extend warm Christmas wishes to all our valued members, parents, coaches, umpires and management team.

Happy Christmas, everyone.
With love,
Denise
